Ray Johnston is a
graduate from Michigan State University with a BA degree in hotel, restaurant, and
institutional management, as well as a BS degree in business administration from Oregon
State University.
Johnston heads up Las
Brisas Hotels, Inc. with the excitement and enthusiasm he has displayed throughout his
professional career. Under his leadership, Las Brisas Hotels, Inc. displays a management
style that evolves around conceptual and entrepreneur skills and that keeps the firm in a
highly competitive position in every facet of the industry.
Prior to Las Brisas
Hotels, Inc., Johnston enjoyed a distinguished career with Westin Hotels, (Opening of the
Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles and on to the Camino Reals of Mexico four years later),
Princess International Hotels (Opening team of the Acapulco Princess Hotel and Golf
Resort), Americana Hotels International (Acapulco El Presidente Hotel and opening of the
Americana Hotel and Casino in Aruba, N.A.), and Holiday Inns of Mexico (Directed all
resort properties). His success brought him to the presidency of Yellowstone National Park
(countrys largest national park of its kind producing profits over $500,000 per week
and managing 2000 employees) and President of the restaurant companies of the Campbell
Soup Company (multi-concepts with an annual physical growth over 30%).
As president he
transformed each company into highly competitive organizations which resulted in an
unprecedented rate of growth and return on investment for its owners.
Internationally,
Johnston has operated hotels and served on numerous professional boards. Aside from
operating hotels and resorts, major achievements were made in making the initial promotion
for two international resort destinations in Mexico and one in Aruba, N.A. of the
Caribbean.
Following his corporate
activities, Ray Johnston fine-tuned his entrepreneur skills while maintaining a reputation
as a "Hand shake" guy with a hands-on perspective which continues to make him an
outstanding achiever both in the U.S. and abroad.
As a manager, corporate
officer, entrepreneur, and hotel owner, Ray Johnston clearly understands that profit is
not just made at the bottom line, but also at the top.
The diversity that
Johnston has obtained through his career spans from franchise and independent hotel and
restaurant operations to that of casinos, resorts, and national parks through out three
countries and development consultation in Sweden for new three star hotels and Norway for
the Winter Olympics hotel headquarters.
Ray Johnstons
career has been highlighted with significant turnarounds with the restructuring and
operation of financially distressed hotels and companies. During this time he has
distinguished himself in the areas of hotel/resort operations and management, sales and
marketing leadership, and consulting in all facets of the hospitality industry.
